About the room
Who lives there
1 male, professional, non smokers
We have a furnished private bedroom for you in a century-old heritage house in Vancouver's Commercial Drive neighbourhood. A 5-10 minute walk through tree-lined streets takes you to Commercial Drive, cafes, restaurants, shops, and transit including Sky Train. Travel time to downtown Vancouver is about 10 minutes by car, 20 minutes by transit, and 30 minutes by bicycle.
I live with my sixteen year old son three days of the week. (The other four days of the week he lives with his mom.) I am a musician and a music teacher. Indoors, I love playing, writing and listening to music, reading novels and watching films. Outdoors, I enjoy cycling, swimming, running and hiking. My son is in grade eleven French immersion, plays soccer & basketball, loves music, drawing, movies, reading, and video games.
Europeans on a work/holiday visa, professionals, students, English language learners, musicians and artists are welcome. Please no smoking and no pets. One person only please. Thank you for your interest and I hope to meet you soon...
Testimonies from former housemates...
As a first experience as a housemate for both of us, Steve has been an excellent landlord and housemate. He makes sure that nothing is missing and makes you feel good and welcome. He is very respectful of your privacy. Don't be surprised to be invited to watch a movie or go out to dinner once in a while - it's up to you to enjoy it or not ;). Freshly arrived in Vancouver, he drove me and showed me around the city. And he helped me to improve my English, so if you are an international student it could be nice for you to be here. The location of the house is great as it's close to parks (Trout Lake, Mc Spadden Park, Garden Park), and the Skytrain (10 minutes walking distance) to Downtown or East direction, buses to UBC or Downtown (#9, #99, #20) and Commercial Drive which means a ton of restaurants, cafes, food stores, services and others. . .: that make your life easy day-to-day and really enjoyable!! Also, if the house is not entirely renovated for now, everything works well. The room is big and there is plenty of space for all your stuff and more. For me, life here has been a really good experience.

I lived with Steve and his son for 3 months, and it was a good experience!
He is curious, and likes sharing conversation, culture, dinner...because of him, he helped me improve my English. (I saw the difference during my stay.)
He is generous and respectful to your privacy.
This neighbourhood is the perfect place if you want a quiet area. Shops and several restaurant are 10 min walk away, skytrain and bus 7 to downtown are a few stations away. Perfect place for going out and avoiding downtown if you want. (By the way, he knows many good places for eating, listening to music and doing activities.)
If you want to discover Vancouver, travel, or you want to improve your English, Steve's house is a good place to live.
